A Skin That Is Oily Needs To Be Looked After

Everyone's skin produces oil which is produced by our sebaceous glands. Everyone needs a certain amount of this oil to protect and moisturise their skin. The skin type is decided by how much oil is produced by our skin. Oily skin produces excessive oil on the face, resulting in a greasy appearance. It can lead to clogging of pores and acne. People having this type of skin often search for products like sunscreen for oily skin because the face products don't last that long on their faces.  It's normal to have skin that is oily, but it's better to treat it before this excess amount of oil leads to imperfections in your skin.

How To Diagnose If You Are Having An Oily Skin

If your skin has things as follows, then you are likely to have this type of skin

  • Your face appears shiny but appears greasy later on.
  • The makeup you do doesn't stay on for a more extended period, and it slips off of your face.
  •  The oilier portions of your face have blackheads, pimples or other types of acne.
  • Pores on your skin get enlarged, especially on your nose, forehead and chin.

You can also do the blotting test to check if you have this type of skin or not, which is as follows:

Wash your face with a mild cleanser, then leave it bare for 3 hours. Place a blotting paper on your face for a few minutes to determine the oiliness of your skin. If the paper adheres and you see patches of oil after removing that paper, then you are likely to have oily skin.

Treatment For The Oily Type Of Skin

Treatment for this skin consists of a few principles. You are advised to avoid some product ingredients and for the sunscreen, choose the best sunscreen for oily skin available in the market and follow a daily regimen appropriate for your skin type. You can follow the following guidelines:

  • Washing regularly - You need to remove excess oil from your skin. Use a mild cleanser and wash your face in the morning, at night and after any exercise you do. Face wash for oily skin type is also available in the market for avoiding certain types of ingredients.
  • Exfoliate now and then - Don't neglect exfoliation. Use a gentle exfoliating face wash multiple times a week.
  • Moisturise - Because oily skin also needs to be moisturised. While searching for a moisturiser for oily skin, you should choose something lightweight because it won't clog the pores.
  • Remove makeup before bedtime - Use products that don't require you to scrub and irritate your skin. You can use a micellar water makeup remover. They are effective and can help remove an oily film left behind by an oil-based makeup remover.
  • Ingredients to be avoided - Cocoa butter, petroleum jelly, silicone, coconut oil and alcohol-based products because they tend to irritate the skin.
