Microdermabrasion involves using very small crystals that are sprayed on the skin, which helps treat surface skin troubles like dull skin, fine lines, brown spots, age spots, mild acne scars and the sun-damaged layer of skin. Microdermabrasion causes no bleeding and requires minimal recovery time.

How Does The Therapy Work?

In microdermabrasion treatment, small crystals are sprayed onto the skin to gently take off the external layer of your skin. This approach is less aggressive than dermabrasion, so you do not need a numbing drug. It's mostly an exfoliation and skin resuscitation procedure that leaves skin looking softer and brighter.
There are a few types to do this procedure:

  • Hydradermabrasion - It involves fusing simultaneous crystal-free exfoliation and infusion of products into the skin. The process is said to maximize blood flow to your skin and stimulate collagen production.
  • Diamond-tip handpiece - A diamond-tip handpiece is aimed to gently exfoliate dead cells in your skin. At the same time, it'll suction them off instantly. The depth of the scrape may be affected by the pressure applied on the handpiece as well as how long the suction is allowed to stay on the skin. This kind of microdermabrasion machine is commonly used in more sensitive facial regions, like close to the eyes.
  • Crystal microdermabrasion - This technique uses a crystal-shooting machine to gently spray dusty crystals to rub off external layers of the skin. Similarly to the diamond-tip handpiece, dead skin cells are sucked off immediately. The different types of crystals that may be used involve aluminium oxide and sodium bicarbonate.

Cost of Microdermabrasion

The cost of Microdermabrasion depends on the condition of your skin.

The effects are usually just transitory. Patients who use sun protection and adhere to the suggested skin-care regimen will keep their results for a longer period of time.
